Euchre Live Help

Back to the game

Everything you need to sit down and play: getting to a table, reading the cards, the rules, and your account.

Getting to a table

  1. Sign in, or just type your name. Guests can play right away. Sign in (or create a free account) if you want your Funtistics kept and to play with friends.
  2. Pick a table code. A random one is filled in for you. To play with people, everyone uses the same code.
  3. Camera and microphone start off. Tick Camera on and Microphone on if you want to be seen and heard (your browser asks permission the first time), or turn them on later with the Cam and Mic buttons. Whatever you choose is remembered for next time. You can play without them.
  4. Press Join table.
  5. Invite the others. Press Copy link and send it by text or email, or use Friends to invite people directly. Anyone who opens the link lands at your table.
  6. Pick seats. Before the game starts you can click an empty Sit here tile to move. You and the player across from you are partners.
  7. Start. The first person at the table is the host. The host can change the house rules with Game rules, then presses Start game. Empty seats are filled by robots.
Dropped out by accident? Just reopen the same link (or reload the page). You get your seat back. A robot plays for you if you've been gone for more than 8 seconds, and hands it back when you return.

Your turn

When it's your turn, your name tag and video glow gold and the buttons you need appear in the middle of the screen.

Bidding, round 1

One card is turned up. Press Order up to make its suit trump (if you're the dealer it says Pick it up), or Pass. Tick Go alone first if you want to play without your partner. If someone orders it up, the dealer picks the card up and then clicks a card in their hand to throw away.

Bidding, round 2

If everyone passes, the card is turned down. Now you can name any other suit as trump, or pass. With stick the dealer on, the dealer can't pass if it comes all the way round.

Playing

Cards you're allowed to play are lifted, with a mint green outline. Cards you can't play are dimmed. Click a card to play it.

9♠A♥K♣  You must follow the suit that was led if you can.

Auto-play (ticked at the top) plays your card for you when you only have one choice. Hints shows a pale blue suggestion: the card or button a robot would choose.

Celebrations

When a team gets euchred, fireworks go off and a banner names them: "You've been euchred!" if it's your team, or "Euchre! You got them!" if you did the euchring. When a team takes all five tricks (a march), there's a smaller burst and a banner with their names. When the game ends the winners get fireworks and balloons with "Congratulations, you've won!" and their names. Each show is a different size, at random. Click the banner to close it. With Sound on you hear the fireworks too. If your device is set to reduce motion, you just see the banner.

Between hands

When a hand ends you'll see the score and a Ready for next hand button. Everyone at the table presses it, not just the dealer. The message says who deals next and who you're still waiting for. Once every player is ready the next hand is dealt for you, or after 20 seconds if someone is slow.

Reading the table

Q♥
A gold halo marks every trump card, in your hand and on the table.
J♥RIGHTJ♦LEFT
The two bowers get a tab. The right bower (Jack of trump) is the highest card. The left bower (the other Jack of the same colour) is second, and counts as a trump.
▮ 2
How many tricks that player has taken so far this hand. It appears once play starts. The top-right corner shows each team's total.
Dealer
Who dealt this hand (it says You deal when it's you). The turned-up card also says who the dealer is. The deal moves one seat to the left each hand: between hands the chip shows Deals next on whoever deals the next one.
MAKER / ALONE
Who named trump, and whether they're going alone.
Name
A gold glow around a name and video means it's that player's turn.
Top bar
The score (Us and Them), the target (First to 10), the trump suit and who called it, and how many tricks each team has this hand.

How Euchre works

Scoring

Makers take 3 or 4 tricks
1 point
Makers take all 5 (a march)
2 points, or 4 if they went alone
Makers take 2 or fewer
Euchred! The other team gets 2 points

House rules

The host sets these in the lobby with Game rules. They're locked once the game starts, and everyone can look at them with Rules at the top.

Play to
5, 7, 10 or 11 points. 10 is the default.
Stick the dealer
If everyone passes twice, the dealer must name trump. If it's off, the next player deals again instead.
Misdeal: no ace, no face
A player with no Ace and no Jack, Queen or King may call a misdeal before bidding. The same dealer deals again.
Misdeal: no ace, no face, no trump
Once trump is named, a player with no Ace, no face card and no trump may call a misdeal before the first card is led.
Call trump with a natural
In round 2 you can only name a suit if you hold a card of that suit. The left bower doesn't count, since it belongs to trump. (A stuck dealer with no natural card may name any suit.)
Dealer forces alone
A dealer stuck with naming trump must go alone. Only applies with stick the dealer.

Leave
Leave the table and go back to the start screen. If a game is going, a robot takes your seat so everyone else can keep playing, and the chat says who took over. You can join again with the same table code, and you'll take back a robot's seat if there's no empty one.

Your settings (sizes, sound, Auto-play, Hints) are remembered on each computer or phone you use.

Friends

  1. Open Friends and type your friend's player name, then Add.
  2. Your friend does the same with your name (or presses Add back, since you'll show up under "Added you"). You're friends once you've both added each other.
  3. Now you can see if they're online and which table they're at. Press Join to sit down with them.
  4. When you're at a table, Invite sends them a pop-up with a Join button. If they're on the join screen, the invite shows up there instead.

The robots

Empty seats are filled by robots named after famous sci-fi robots: Robby, Gort, R2, Threepio, Marvin, Bender, HAL, WALL·E, K-9, Dalek, TARS and Data. They play sensibly but not brilliantly, so a good team should beat them. If you join a game that's already going, you take over a robot's seat.

When something goes wrong

No camera or microphone
Your browser blocked it. Click the lock or camera icon at the left of the address bar, allow camera and microphone, then reload the page. Also check no other app (Zoom, Teams) is using the camera.
I can't see someone's video
Wait a few seconds, then have them reload. Some work and mobile-data networks block video between players; the game still works there, just without video.
"Connection lost"
The game reconnects by itself. If it doesn't within a minute, reload. Your seat is kept.
Cards don't slide or deal
On Windows, check Settings → Accessibility → Visual effects → Animation effects is on.
Things are too big or run off the screen
Use the sliders in Settings, or zoom your browser (Ctrl and + or −).
Forgot my password
See Your account.

Best in a recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a computer, tablet or phone.
